Capt. Tom landing a 150 lb tarpon in Boca Grande Pass
|
Raised in St. Petersburg Florida, he's fished these waters all of his life. That's over forty years on the gulf, in it's tributaries and it's estuaries. From the back country estuaries of Tarpon Springs and Anclote Island, south past Clearwater Beach, and Tampa Bay; clear down to Charlotte Harbor, Boca Grande pass, he focuses on catching fish that unforgettable, lifetime, memories are made of.
Pick the season right and catch giant tarpon, inshore slams of large snook, big bull redfish and seatrout after seatrout.
When the water's right, he pursues large gulf grouper by hunting the nearshore rockpiles and reefs of the lower naturecoast. This specialty is only practiced successfully by native Florida Fishing Guides who truly understand the ebb and pulse of the gulf.
Capt. Tom will be celebrating a decade on the water as a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain in 2007. His 07 season is already booking up for the celebration; please don't hesitate in contacting us to reserve up-coming high season dates.
Check out the photos page. Then go to the species pages; pick the fish and the right time of year to pursue them. It' makes "catching not just fishing," simple and easy. Then just put in a request for a reservation. "See," simple right? If you have questions get in touch.
Frequently asked Questions:
Do we need to bring anything?
All that you'll need is sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, food and drink. Everything else such as rods, reels, licenses, bait, and equipment are already on the boat. Oh yea! "Don't forget to bring your camera."
During certain months, a light jacket will add comfort tp your day.
What time do we leave the dock?
Depending on the time of year, and location of the charter, cast-off times may vary. Let's get to that part a little later.
Who cleans the fish?
No worries mate; we'll take care of all the messy details. "Heck," we'll even supply the zip-lock baggies so you can take a few fish home.
What if we need help with accomodations?
"No sweat," (sorry for the pun, this is Florida we're talking about.) Capt. Tom will be glad to assist, after all he is a guide. All you need to do is ask. Just give him your ideas concerning any budgetary restraints and he'll be glad to oblige.
What size boat will we be fishing on?
Let's talk about the vessel; the captain operates a 24 foot Sheaffer Bay Boat powered by a 225 Yamaha four stroke engine. She's no speed boat topping out at around 45 mph, but she is one of the more comfortable vessels in the fleet.
Is there a porta-potti?
A touchy subject for some but not for us. We are never out of sight of, or far from a landing point or facility of some kind. This allows us to take a break if needed. For hardier individuals or in an emergency, there is also the less modern method using the ubiquitous five-gallon bucket.
